How to use your blank color swatch chart

A swatch chart is a reference sheet of colors made with your own art supplies. This blank template gives each color a space, so you can compare your markers, colored pencils or pens before choosing one for a page.

1. Choose your chart. Download a ready-to-print PDF with 108, 216 or 320 boxes, or use the tool above to choose your own box count and size.
2. Add labels if you want them. Leave the fields empty to write by hand after printing. To print your own labels, enter one number, brand or name per line. An empty line leaves that label blank; repeated labels stay in your chosen order.
3. Print on A4 paper. Select actual size or 100% in your print settings to keep the original dimensions. Check the preview before printing all the pages.
4. Make your swatches. Color each box with the real marker, pencil or pen. Write down its code and keep the sheet beside your coloring book as a reference.

Choose 108, 216 or 320 blank boxes

The ready-to-print charts fit up to 108 boxes on each A4 page. Choose a total that leaves enough space for your collection:

• 108 boxes on one page: useful for a smaller collection or one group of colors.
• 216 boxes on two pages: more space for a growing collection or several brands.
• 320 boxes on three pages: the default, with 108 boxes on each of the first two pages and 104 on the last.

You can also enter any total from 1 to 1,000 in the tool. Dense fits 108 boxes per page; Compact fits 54 and Roomy fits 28 if you prefer a larger swatch. The page count updates in the preview.

Tips for a useful marker or pencil color chart

• Use the paper you color on. Make separate charts for different papers so your reference reflects the surface you actually use. Note the paper in the optional field.
• Include the brand when mixing supplies. A label such as “Copic R1” is easier to identify later than a number alone, especially when two brands use the same code.
• Keep your technique consistent. Use a similar number of marker passes or similar pencil pressure across the chart. Let the swatches dry before comparing them.
• Organize it your way. Group warm colors, cool colors and neutrals, or follow the order in your storage case. The blank chart does not sort or number your labels.

Is the printable chart free?

Yes. The PDFs and custom chart download are free. You do not need an account, a subscription or ColorBestie credits.

Can I use it for Ohuhu, Copic or other brands?

Yes. The blank layout is not tied to a marker set or brand. Use it for Ohuhu, Copic, other markers, colored pencils or pens. You supply the names and numbers; the tool does not assign codes from a catalog.

Do the color boxes stay empty?

Yes. Every swatch box stays white in the preview and PDF, even when you add a label above it. Fill the boxes with your own colors after printing. Leave all label fields empty for a completely unlabelled chart.

Can I print my own numbers and brand names?

Yes. Use the optional Brand field for the whole chart and Your own labels for individual swatches. Each label can contain up to 40 characters. You can mix brands, repeat a label or leave spaces for future colors.

Can I print on US Letter paper?

The PDFs are designed for A4. For US Letter, use your printer’s fit-to-page setting and check that the full page is visible in the print preview. Scaling changes the box sizes.

Are my personal labels uploaded?

No. Your labels, name and paper details stay in your browser while the custom PDF is created. You do not need to upload a marker list or save a collection.
